GETTING TO THE CONGRESS CENTRE:
From the hotels
The two recommended hotels are located at the two sides of the
Cathedral Island (Ostrów Tumski).
Walk east across the Cathedral Island (if you start from Tumski), then
along the Szczytnicka Street, directly to Plac Grunwaldzki. This
should take some 30 minutes from Tumski and about 20 minutes from
WenderEDU.
A bus will be provided from the Tumski Hotel to the Congress Centre
(Wed 8:20; Thu 8:30; Fri 8:30) and back (Wed 18:30; Thu 19:15; Fri 14:30).
From the airport
This is a bit complicated if you choose to take a bus:
Take bus no. 406 to go to "Nowy Dwór" and then switch to 149 to go to
"Plac Grunwaldzki". Unfortunately, both buses are not very frequent
but this is the only way to change just once. Alternatively, you can
take 132 or 142 from "Nowy Dwór", go to "Plac Jana Pawła II" and take
a tram 10 or 33 from there to "Plac Grunwaldzki". Ticket machines are
at the tram stops (card & cash) and on the buses and trams (card
payment only). A ticket bought on the tram or bus still has to be
validated.
Taking a taxi is a much simpler option (see the advice below).
From the main railway station
Leave to the north (towards the city center, Centrum miasta, that
is, in the direction of decreasing platform numbers), reach the street
ahead of you and follow to the left along the street. Tram stops are
50-300 meters away (depending on which exit you take). Take No. 2
going to "Biskupin", which will take you to "Plac Grunwaldzki" in
about 12 minutes. Ticket machines are at the tram stops (card & cash)
and on the trams (card payment only). A ticket bought on the tram
still has to be validated.
Or take a taxi (see the advice below).
Taxi advice (quoted from
here):
Within cities, taxis are available at major hotels and designated
stands or may be ordered in advance by telephone. Some drivers speak
English and accept credit cards. When hailing taxis on the street, you
should avoid those that do not have a company name and/or telephone
number displayed since these may not have meters and many of them
charge significantly more. Do not accept assistance from
self-professed "taxi drivers" who approach you in the arrivals
terminal or outside the doors at Warsaw Airport, but rather use only
those that display telephone numbers and a company name and are at
designated taxi stands.
